Retail Analyst Breakfast, Speaker - Richard Hyman

Retail Analyst Breakfast

Discussion with Richard Hyman, strategic adviser to Deloitte's UK consumer business practice

Prognosis of the future retail landscape

We would be delighted if you could join us at Sartoria, London, to hear Richard Hyman’s prognosis of the future retail landscape on Wednesday 8th February.

Richard will be looking at what this recession has meant for both the consumer and retailer, and how some of the surprises such as resilient consumer spending are of massive significance.

In the worst recession in modern times, when the consumer has been forced to reappraise spending priorities, it is those areas beyond the weekly shop that have seen most of the cuts and retail has held its ground.  We believe that for the first time since the 1970s, retail will have increased its share of total consumer spend by the end of 2009.  This is not to say that retailers are having a good time.

Richard is the strategic adviser to Deloitte's UK consumer business practice. Prior to Deloitte, Richard was the founder of Verdict Research and still acts as an Adviser to them. In recent years, Hyman has worked with and advised the likes of Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Debenhams, Sainsbury's, Littlewoods, John Lewis and New Look.

The breakfast briefing is designed to encourage peer dialog and thought-leadership exchanges, and I would be delighted if you could join us. Tea and coffee will be served at 8.15am, with breakfast served promptly at 8.30am. We aim to finish punctually at 9.40am.
