Retail Dinner for Chairmen, CEOs and Investors

Guest Speaker, Dalton Philips Chief Executive of Morrisons

Dalton Philips is the Chief Executive of Morrisons, Britain's fourth-largest supermarket chain.

Dalton commenced on 21 June 2010 and a year on how has this relatively unknown retailer in the British retail world been able to bring his skills to bear and make use of his worldwide expereince, in a store he once said was a retailers’ retailer.

Dalton has a degree from University College Dublin and an MBA from Harvard, had been chief operating officer of Loblaw since January 2007. The group is part of the Weston family's global business empire and, with 1,000 stores and sales of £18bn, is one of Canada's largest retailers.

Before joining Loblaw Dalton ran another Weston business, upmarket Irish chain Brown Thomas. He has worked in 10 countries in a career that includes a seven-year stint at Wal-Mart, latterly as chief operating officer in Germany.
